The Yankees are sitting at 37-27. That is 10 games above 500 and 2 games behind the AL East leading Boston Redsox. The Yankees are also leading the AL Wild Card race as of right now. They just took 2 out of 3 against the Mets and have won the first game against the Nationals. [...] So apparently David Ortiz is going to have his eyes checked because of his prolonged slump. Here’s a little quote from ESPN regarding the shift that is normally played against Ortiz: After a hard fought series against the Phillies in which the Yanks were only able to take 2 of 3, the Bombers opened a seven game road trip in style by topping the Texas Rangers 11-1.
